Clean Sweep Wisconsin is a Wisconsin-based multi-candidate Political Action Committee (PAC) formed in November of 2007.Formed with the EXPLICIT GOAL to help individuals run WINNING campaigns against Democrat and Republican incumbents throughout Wisconsin in the September 9th, 2008 partisan primary elections.
Why Clean Sweep? Some Background:
Indictments and convictions of Wisconsin legislators and officials in recent years have perhaps identified the worst (or most easily caught) offenders; but the corruption runs deeper, and indeed has become a hidden but “standard operating procedure” in Madison.
The plain truth of the matter is that the "establishment" of BOTH political parties and many elected officials regularly compromise or even completely sell out their principles and constituent’s needs to those of lobbyists and special interest groups.
These groups achieve their goals because many elected officials are CAREER politicians, as such, they are easily leveraged through a corrupted campaign contribution process.
It has often reached the point where elected officials believe it is almost the definition of their "job" to give these groups the legislative and economic protection that government provides, and the citizens of Wisconsin are paying dearly for it.
The Clean Sweep Wisconsin organization has developed a common sense platform that will appeal to the average voter, whether they consider themselves to be Democrat, Republican, or Independent. Candidates running for office will sign a pledge that they will agree to be held accountable to the campaign promises they make while running for office, with a promise to resign if they go back on their pledge and vote contrary to the platform they signed onto. The dynamics of each and every candidate across the state running on a common message of reforming state government will have an enormous impact far beyond what any individual candidate could accomplish.
